Cyclone Relief

Tonga is well known for its wild weather and being struck by cyclones. When cyclones hit Tonga a lot of families struggle to provide food for their loved ones, due to the fact that these families still cook outdoors using firewood and the outside earth oven which we call an “umu”. When the firewood is wet from heavy rainfall and flooding, cooking outdoors becomes a challenge. In the aftermath of a cyclone the Akanesi Mataitonga Trust helps in any way we can to ease this stress by delivering food to families who are in need.
